On
Saturday September 11 from 10a.m.to 2 p.m. Stephen Hoog will offer a
Wild Food and Herb Walk at the Cherry Valley CSA in Cherry Valley just
south of Stroudsburg, Pa. Cost for the program is $40. Stephen will guide
the group on a walk thru the farm to explain what foods are growing wild
that can be eaten, used for herbal medicine or used as a beverage. In
these economically hard times knowing what to gather for free and what
to use instead of costly drugs could help to reduce those food and
drugstore bills and some of these foods are more nutritious than even
organically grown ones. Stephen will begin with some introductory
remarks and tips on food foraging, he will then review some books for
identification and study followed by the walk. When the walk is finished
a vegetarian lunch with organic and wild foods will be served.
Stephen lived in the Poconos for many years but is now a
resident of Stony Run in Berks County. He has done numerous Wild Food
Walks in Monroe County as well as in New York, Massachusetts, New
Hampshire, Missouri, and South Dakota since 1975. Steve is a Macrobiotic
counselor, and Shiatsu practioner and teacher and makes use of other
body and energywork techniques in his practice. He also has an antique
booth at the Olde Engine Works in Stroudsburg.
